“Hwarang: The Beginning” Wraps Up Filming and Sets Premier Date

KBS’s “Hwarang: The Beginning” has officially wrapped up filming on September 1st. The network subsequently announced that the pre-produced drama also decided on a premier date. The Monday/Tuesday show will air it’s first episode on December 19th.

“Hwarang” is a story about an elite group of “Flowering Knights”, who came about in the Silla dynasty. The ridiculously good looking and talented cast is made up of Park Seo Joon, Go Ara, Park Hyung Sik, SHINee’s Minho, BTS’s V and many more. Filming which began on March 31st, filmed throughout the entire summer with no interruptions. Productions commented on the difficulties of shooting in the heat, saying “The actors had a difficult time due to the hot summer weather. It will be a young and fun youth sageuk.”

The anticipation is building. I love that this drama is set in the Silla dynasty, as oppose to the popular Joseon. I also think that Go Ara was s smart choice. She tends to be a versatile actresses, that usually pairs up well with anyone. If we’ve learned anything in the last week from other dramas that are currently airing (Scarlet Heart), its that casting a heroin with a strong fan base is crucial to a drama that will have a parade of beloved male idols. Looking forward to seeing teasers in the near future.
