Although it is not 2009 anymore, actor/singer Jang Geun Suk, is still quite popular not only in Korea but also in all of Asia. Jang recetnly sat down with X Sport magazine and discussed his status as a Hallyu star and his future plans.
Jang who is commonly refereed to as “Asia’s Prince”, transitioned form being a child actor/model to having a successful career in both arenas. When questioned about the burden of being the Prince of Asia, Jung said “As a representative of Korea, I always think I need to take more responsibility.”
He is also apparently quite happy with his brand and direction, saying “I feel proud that I expanded promotions not only to Japan but to the rest of Asia. When I go abroad, fans always gather there to see me. Recently, I’ve seen more younger fans and male fans, which surprised me. I’m grateful to my fans for showing interest in me and making me feel loved.”
The actor filmed a historical drama, “Jackpot”, earlier in the year, and said “As an actor, I want to keep building my filmography, but as a singer I’d like to expand into an Asia tour and a world tour. I’d like to try productions and solo promotions abroad as well. I want to meet directly with fans all around the world.”
I was sure that after a couple of flops prior to his latest drama, Jang was all but forgotten in the industry. He went from being one of the most sought after actors for light and fluffy romantic comedies, to dramas that were bombing from the first episode. “Jackpot” was a nice surprise, and different from his previous projects. Aside from a singing career, which he never really had an issue with, if Jang wants to stay in the acting world then he must reinvent his image.
