tvN’s “K2” is officially underway. The script reading for the action thriller was held at CJ E&M Center, and was attanded by the cast, director Gwak Jung Hwan and writer Jang Hyuk Rin. Our leading lady Yoona was the only one not in attendance due to promotional work overseas.
“K2”is a drama about a soldier (Ji Chang Wook) who is betrayed by his country and everyone he trusts. He is then recruited by an heiress (Song Yoon Ah), who is power hungry and ruthless, and uses him to do her bidding. Yoona will play the illegitimate daughter of the heiress and her politician husband.
Ji Chang Wook said “I chose to star in ‘The K2’ because the character Kim Jae Ha is really cool, and this is a very good piece of work. Although it is tiring to act in a show of the action genre, I kept getting drawn to it. There will be intense action scenes in the first part of the drama. Audiences will probably find that interesting.” Although Yoona was not able to attend, she relayed her comments through her agency, saying “This will likely be a character that will let me show an image of me that has not been seen before. In fact, I’m preparing myself to take on a new challenge. I hope you will give me your support.”
This drama sounds so good. I love Ji Chang Wook in action thrillers. “Healer” is on the list of all time favorite dramas, and most of the magic of it’s success came from it being so effortless. Yoona needs to bring her A-game. She is sometimes a bit stiff in her roles. To play a character like this, you need to loosen up a bit and let the force that is Ji Chang Wook lead you a long.
“K2” will premier September 23rd, and will air on Fridays/Saturdays.
