MBC’s “Missing 9” (Formerly known as “Picnic”) is in the process of negotiating it’s lead roles. Jung Kyung Ho (“Falling for Innocence”) and Jung Yoo Mi (“Rooftop Prince”) are both currently in talks to star in the upcoming drama.
Jung Yoo Mi’s agency, SOOP, stated “Jung Yoo Mi is in talks to be the female lead in MBC drama ‘Missing 9,’ but she is not yet confirmed.” While Jung Kyung Ho’s rep said “Jung Kyung Ho is a candidate, but we’re still in discussion, so he’s not confirmed.”
“Missing 9″ is a Chinese-Korean collaboration, and will be a story about a group of idols who crash onto a deserted island after their plane goes down. It is said to be a drama about self growth and coming of age along with a fantasy romance. Chanyeol, who has already been confirmed for the drama, will portray a playboy idol named Lee Yeol. Lee Sun Bin, who has also been cast, will play as a flirt who has had some legal troubles in the past.
This project has already had it’s share of casting drama (no pun intended). Originally, the network announced Kang Ha Neul and Hyeri as leads, but then quickly backtracked. I like both Jung Yoo Mi and Jung Kyung Ho as actors. They have done some great projects in the past. However, given the fact that this will be an idol drama, I find it a bit odd that the network would cast actors in their 30’s as the leads. I am finding it hard to image Jung Kyung Ho as the lead singer of a Kpop group. Before I start envisioning anything else, let’s wait for the official word on confirmation. You never know who may be thrown into the mix.
