This drama is bound to be my next obsession. JTBC is dropping teasers and posters weekly to build hype for the upcoming series, however I don’t think that they will need to put that much effort into getting people to tune in. The cast for this project is amazing, and based on what we know so far of the plot-line, should be a definite hit.
Our pint-sized Park Bo Young plays the heroine Do Bong Soon, who possesses immense strength despite her tiny size. She is hired to protect Park Hyung Sik, who is a typical young and arrogant second generation chaebol. She also has a crush on Ji Soo’s character, who is a righteous detective with a passion for justice. I must say, that I am not a huge fan of gender reversal in dramas, but this plot has me interested. I love the casting for this, and secretly hoping that the chemistry is off the charts. It will be interesting to see the dynamic between the three as they become entangled in a love triangle.
I am excited to see Park Hyung Sik in his first leading role. He is currently knocking out of the park in “Hwarang”, and most fans have serious second lead syndrome. I wasn’t sure about Park Bo Young’s casting at first, but seeing the initial previews with her interaction alongside Hyung Sik gives me high hopes. Many fans were disappointed to learn that Ji Soo will once again be playing a supporting role, but I actually think this is a great project for him to do. I don’t yet see him as a leading man. I think he has great potential and will will surely get there eventually, but needs to stick to roles where he can mature in with proper time.
“Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” air on Fridays/Saturdays, and is set to premier on February 24th.
